INTERPOL Red Notice

A Red Notice is a global request addressed to law enforcement for the localization and provisional arrest of a person that is due to be extradited. A Red Notice will generally contain the following information: information on the person’s identity, e.g., name, birth date, nationality, eye color, hair color, and fingerprints, and information on the crime which the individual is wanted for, e.g., murder, child abuse, rape, or aggravated assault. Red Notices are issued by INTERPOL upon member states’ request under consideration of all relevant regulations. It should be noted that a Red Notice is not an international arrest warrant.

Wrongly published Red Notices may have severely negative consequences for the inculpated individual. In particular, affected persons’ freedom is interrupted immensely. If the local regime is dominated by corruption and political turmoil, INTERPOL systems can be abused or misappropriated. Even if the extradition of the inculpated person can be averted, the Red Notice will not necessarily be withdrawn.

Teichmann International (Schweiz) AG has multiple high-profile clients from all over the world and is well prepared to answer and solve all corresponding queries and problems. Due to their extensive expertise, which is based on an excellent education, the attorneys of Teichmann International (Schweiz) AG are able to deal with complex multinational legal matters in a timely and effective manner. Naturally, our clients’ best interest is always prioritized.

Our attorneys have excellent expertise regarding INTERPOL proceedings and bring forward persuasive arguments for the withdrawal of a Red Notice. Reasons for a withdrawal can be that the country has failed to withdraw the Notice or to update its local data base. In other cases, a Red Notice has been issued based on an unfair trial or is politically motivated which is why it must be withdrawn in view of constitutional principles. Our attorneys are optimally prepared to convince INTERPOL to refrain from publishing a Red Notice or pre-emptively forestall a propagation of the Notice.

If a Red Notice cannot be withdrawn, we contact relevant authorities both locally and abroad and ensure that unreasonable Red Notices are not applied in the respective jurisdiction. In addition, we facilitate clients’ safe travels from one location to another and garner international support for the withdrawal of the Red Notice.
