By drawing up a last will or an inheritance contract, the testator has the opportunity to determine how their estate will be distributed. We are happy to advise you on how to ensure your wishes will be implemented after death in compliance with mandatory legal regulations. Early consultation can avoid subsequent inheritance disputes and family conflicts. Accordingly, legal advice should be sought as early as possible. Unless a testator specifies by means of a last will or testament how their estate is to be distributed, the current legal provisions will apply. Cohabiting partners, stepchildren, and long-standing friends are disregarded by Swiss inheritance law, so any provisions for them after death must be recorded in an enforceable agreement.
